Serving Those Who Serve: Home Health Care for Veterans

Since the year 2000, the Department of Defense reports that 352,619 service members have been diagnosed with traumatic brain injury that occurred on the battlefield and within domestic garrisons during training. Since 2007, there were 2.1 million injury-related medical visits – impacting 900,000 service members –  with 68% of all injuries that accounted for limited duty days resulting from musculoskeletal injuries. And between 2005 and 2009, there were approximately 869 service members who suffered spinal injuries in combat.

Whether serving abroad or training at home, our service members face increased risk of injury that can cause pain, limit mobility and require surgery. The impact of these injuries can result in the need for short-term or long-term care. As the US Department of Veterans Affairs explains, home health care can be an integral part of this care: “A homemaker or home health aid is a trained person who can come to a Veteran’s home and help the Veteran take care of himself and his daily activities.”

At Premier Home Health Care Services, Inc., we offer a range of services that meet the needs of veterans. Our specialty care includes traumatic brain injury care, and our certified services include both physical and occupational therapies.
