    1. Sweet Potato Soup

The heaviest part of any soup is the cream. Simple solution with this recipe is to use coconut milk instead! It’s a deliciously hearty yet lightly spicy twist on the traditional sweet potato soup that the whole family can enjoy with no belly aches!

    1. Chili

Simple substitutions that don’t compromise the hearty base and complimentary toppings but stop the residual heartburn, bloat and fatigue?

    1. Ground turkey for beef
    2. Nonfat greek yogurt for sour cream
    3. Add Avocado for a health fat
    4. Bake your own “tortillas” from whole wheat pita bread

    1. Mac & Cheese

Now this can be a tough one – comfort food to the max – cheese and pasta. The best way to make this a healthier dish is to:

    1. Use a whole wheat or gluten free pasta
    2. Add a protein and/or a vegetable
    3. Reduce the heavy dairy with a substitute milk (almond, coconut, cashew) or at least a low fat option.

    1. Classic Autumn Chicken Bake

With the classics, keep it simple: protein and vegetables with some seasoning. Let the meal speak for itself.

    1. Meatloaf

The hardest part here is the breadcrumbs and the ketchup. Substitute Italian seasoned almond flour for the breadcrumbs and use a low sugar ketchup option if you don’t have the time to make your own. Throw in extra vegetables like carrots, corn, peas, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, spinach, onions, etc.

    1. Sausage Stuffing (for that Turkey Dinner or Thanksgiving leftovers!)

Who doesn’t love stuffing? Jazz it up with cranberries, apples, celery, etc. Add a protein like ground sausage and substitute squash or sweet potatoes for the bread. Mmmm

    1. Pot Roast

This is a generally healthy meal – just avoid those store bought flavor pouches and mix your own seasoning! This will eliminate unnecessary sugars and cornstarch.

These are some of our favorite fall comfort food meals with an added healthy twist to enjoy with the whole family and not feel guilty about seconds!
